VERMILLION, SD (KELO.com) — South Dakota Public Broadcasting officials are coming back down to earth after a major victory in the legislature last week. Former Governor Kristi Noem’s original budget called for major cuts in SDPB funding. The money was restored – avoiding staffing and programming cuts. Executive Director Julie Overgaard admits it was a difficult struggle, but says some good came out of the process in the expressions of support from the listening audience, and the action of the Legislature to restore the funding. One area of concern going forward is the potential of budget cuts from national PBS sources.
