PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — Summit Carbon Solutions wants to suspend its carbon capture pipeline permit application in South Dakota. The company filed a motion Wednesday morning asking the Public Utilities Commission for an indefinite delay, as it regroups. Summit suffered a major defeat last week when the legislature passed a bill that blocks CO2 pipeline companies from using eminent domain to secure land to bury those pipelines. Governor Rhoden signed the bill, leaving Summit with the challenge of trying to find a way through South Dakota, with many landowners opposed to the project.
