SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls Police are investigating a homicide – the second in 2025 – following a fight just north of the Bishop Dudley House Saturday evening. Police Information Officer Sam Clemens says authorities believe the victim, 24-year old Jacob Gallman Runningshield, had just recently moved to Sioux Falls. They were called to the 800 block of East 8th Street shortly after 7pm Saturday evening. When they arrived, they found Runningshield suffering from a severe head injury. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
Clemens says investigators are tracking down people who may have witnessed the fight. So far, they have not identified the suspect, but Clemens says they are working on leads. The incident took place just to the north of the area the City agreed to lease and fence in during last week’s City Council meeting. The agreement is intended to give authorities more tools to use in efforts to cut down on the number of emergency calls to the troubled neighborhood.
