SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — A petition drive calling for a public vote to keep the Brockhouse animal collection in Sioux Falls has come up short. The Dakota Scout reports a group called Concerned Citizens for Sioux Falls only managed to collect about a thousand signatures. They needed 76-hundred.
The Brockhouse Collection of taxidermied safari animals had been housed at the Great Plains Zoo and Delbridge Museum for decades. The University of Notre Dame’s Museum of Biodiversity will receive most of the specimens.
