PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — Legislators need more tools for investigating potential fraud in state government. That’s the position of a legislative committee, that voted this morning to give the Government Operations and Audit Committee, known as GOAC, the authority to obtain subpoenas to investigate potentially fraudulent activity. House Majority Leader Jon Hansen calls it an important measure, saying it provides the legislature with the tools it needs to oversee state government actions and to investigate potential fraud when necessary. The proposal was approved, and now goes to the full House for consideration.
