Raw crime numbers up, per-capita numbers down in Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — How safe is the city of Sioux Falls???  Mayor Paul TenHaken and area law enforcement officials released the semi-annual crime stats Tuesday.  Police Chief Jon Thum says the public has been focused on one glaring number.

The per-capita property and violent crime rate was actually down slightly last year.  Drug overdoses were also down, but overdose deaths rose.
