PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — South Dakota is on a long winning streak in economic development, but to keep things moving, it’s going to take more power. The state’s Public Utilities Commission heard testimony Tuesday from utility company leaders on how much electricity it will take to meet future demand. East River Electric CEO/GM Bob Sahr says his company has an ambitious schedule in the next few years.
The needs are multiplying, and Brian Tulloh of Midcontinent Independent says planning takes a long time.
He says his firm is working on projects that will cost close to 33-billion dollars to build. With the development of Artificial Intelligence and super-computing centers, the demand will soon go even higher.
