SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — A proposed Aquatics bond to fund new pools and recreational facilities in Sioux Falls has been delayed several times this year. Now, it’s being delayed again – until next month. City Council Chair Kurt Soehl says it’s time to move forward, but he wants some limits.
The Aquatics bond has varied in size from a high of 77-million dollars to 68-million. The difference is nine-million dollars that was transferred from reserve funds to purchase the Sanford Fitness center on the city’s west side. Public Works Director Mark Cotter says that money is needed for road maintenance on Minnesota Avenue. Councilor Soehl says the city should tighten its belt and find another way to pay for the road work.
