SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — An aggravated assault case that started on South Western Avenue at about two Friday morning made for a long night for Sioux Falls police. 33-year old Donte Newton allegedly punched a woman several times until she lost consciousness. He left the scene with two children, six and seven years of age. Police later found his vehicle near 26th and Cleveland. Information officer Sam Clemens says Newton and the two children were inside a residence there.
Newton was arrested for aggravated assault at about 7:15 this morning. The children were unharmed. The assault victim sought medical treatment for her injuries.
