PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — Yesterday’s election produced an overwhelming defeat for supporters of a proposed Carbon Capture pipeline in South Dakota. Referred Law 21 – a law called “The Landowners Bill of Rights” when the legislature approved it. But, it was rejected at the polls…losing in every county except Union. Pipeline opponent Ed Fischbach says it was a real David and Goliath confrontation.
Despite the defeat, Summit Carbon Solutions – the company that wants to build the line, plans to move ahead with another application for permits to build. The Dakota Scout reports Summit hasn’t changed its plans. People on both sides of the issue say the election loss isn’t necessarily a death knell to the project.
