SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — Win, lose or draw, the organization behind a pair of South Dakota ballot measures will be back at it in two years. Rick Weiland, co-founder of Dakotans for Health says the group is preparing a “Direct Democracy Protection Package” for the Legislative Research Council to review. It will include a requirement for voter approval of any law impacting the state’s ballot initiative process, and a prohibition of any changes to laws adopted by voters for a period of seven years. The group sponsored Amendment G on abortion and Initiated Measure 28 to repeal the state sales tax on food and consumable items.
