You may have to look elsewhere if you want to park your big rig on Philips Avenue in Downtown Sioux Falls. City Councilors are considering an ordinance aimed at larger pickups and SUV’s that are too long for the diagonal parking spaces on Philips. The problem is, Philips Avenue is too narrow in the heart of downtown. Councilor Jennifer Sigette says the proposed ordinance would remove about 140 spaces for larger vehicle parking.
Council Chairman Curt Soehl is concerned that may hurt business in that area.
If the ordinance is approved, it would carry a 15-dollar fine, which could grow to 60-dollars if it’s not paid on time.
