PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — South Dakota Lawmakers are meeting in Pierre today, working on the issue of protecting children from harmful material on the Internet. Among those they heard from today is Nicole Lopez, the Safety Policy director of youth for META. She says Meta supports their efforts, and has concerns about parents turning their children loose on mobile devices as they try to download apps.
Even in those cases, Lopez says Meta tries to detect the age of the users downloading apps. She says when they find evidence that the child is younger than the information uploaded to the app stores, they re-categorize the user to the appropriate age group.
