CANTON, SD (KELO.com) — Five years in prison and nearly 500-thousand dollars in restitution. That’s the sentence for former Canton township Treasurer Peggy VanDeKieft. She pleaded guilty to embezzling money from the township’s bank account. She served as Canton township’s treasurer for 18 years.
