(Reuters) -Delta Air’s chief operating officer, Mike Spanos, will leave the airline next month to take on a new role at another company, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing a memo to employees.
The airline’s CEO, Ed Bastian, said Spanos had approached him earlier this summer to say he was considering other opportunities, the report added.
The exit of Delta’s operations chief comes weeks after the airline canceled thousands of flights owing to a global cyber outage.
Delta did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
