MADISON, SD (KELO.com) — It took over 30 years and plenty of patience, but Madison City leaders say it’s worth the wait. The Lewis & Clark Regional Water System is celebrating the connection of Madison to its system. Madison is the last South Dakota city to connect to Lewis & Clark. But, Executive Director Troy Larson says it isn’t the end of building out the system.
Larson and his team are working now on increasing the capacity of the Lewis & Clark System. Crews are building the third and final phase of the water treatment plant in Vermillion to provide the member cities with their full capacity of 44-million gallons of water per day. Sibley, Iowa will become the last city to connect to Lewis & Clark this fall.
