SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — The parent company of the Argus Leader is filing a lawsuit against the city of Sioux Falls. Gannett is suing after Sioux Falls changed the city’s official newspaper designation from the Argus Leader to The Dakota Scout. The city voted unanimously to make the change citing lower costs and that The Scout is locally owned. The lawsuit alleges The Scout failed to submit the required paperwork by January 1st. Dakota Scout co-founder Jonathan Ellis says Gannett would be better off spending its money on hiring local reporters than filing frivolous lawsuits.
