NORTH SIOUX CITY, SD (KELO.com) โ Record flooding has claimed at least one life in South Dakota. Officials are working to make sure there arenโt any more. Governor Kristi Noem led a team of emergency officials Sunday afternoon, warning people to be aware of their surroundings and quick to take action if theyโre threatened by rising water.
Interstate 29 was closed late Sunday to allow emergency workers to build levies higher to protect homes and infrastructure. Union County Emergency Management Director Jason Westcott says rescue teams are being stretched thin.
Rivers flowing into the Missouri River will begin hitting record crests starting Monday and running through Wednesday.
