SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — Supporters of a Constitutional Amendment ballot measure in South Dakota are coming out swinging. They’re calling Amendment G on the abortion ban the Freedom Amendment. Today, they announced Watertown native Nancy Turbak as chair of the campaign. She wasted no time calling on Governor Kristi Noem to call a special session of the legislature to immediately repeal the abortion ban now in effect. Turbak says an immediate repeal is needed to provide care to victims of rape and incest.
If the amendment is approved by voters, it won’t go into effect until July of next year.
