PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — It’s the second time around on efforts to ban foreign adversaries from buying South Dakota farmland. Last year, farm groups lined up to oppose the idea in the legislature. So far this year, they’ve been silent. Representative J.D. Wangsness of Miller says the risk is real.
Agriculture and Natural Resources Secretary Hunter Roberts testified in favor of the measure.
It’s expected to face a vote on the House floor next week.
