Lincoln County residents push back on proposed prison location

HARRISBURG, SD (KELO.com) — More fallout on the proposed site for South Dakota’s new men’s Penitentiary.  The state has announced it wants to build between Harrisburg and Canton.  Local Veterinarian Michelle Jensen says the state was secretive and non-transparent before the announcement.  Now, she says, the state isn’t responding to questions about the impact of the facility.

Peterson says Lincoln County has a plan for future development, but was never given the chance to see how a prison might fit into that plan.
