SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — River flooding is occurring at several locations throughout the KELO Listening area.
That includes the Big Sioux, Rock, and James Rivers.
Springtime snowmelt to our north is causing rivers to swell, creating minor, moderate, and major flood risks that could last for several weeks.
While the Big Sioux is experiencing moderate flooding upstream, the National Weather Service says that Sioux Falls will likely avoid any flooding as much of the water passing through will be pushed through the Diversion Channel.
Be careful near waterways during the next couple weeks, and if a road is closed due to flooding, do not drive around barricades.
Rapid snowmelt continues to result in Minor to locally Moderate flooding across the region. Be sure to stay informed if you live long area waterways. https://t.co/tQEmOuohbS pic.twitter.com/ARbOL4ZPr2
