SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) โ As a winter storm makes its way across South Dakota, interstate closures and several no travel advisories have been issued.
The South Dakota Department of Transportation has announced that Interstate 90 is now closed from Chamberlain to Wall.
They added that at 2 p.m., Interstate 29 will also close from Watertown to the North Dakota border.
While conditions in the Sioux Falls metro remain calm, travel in other parts of the state has become nearly impossible.
SD511.org advises no travel on numerous highways in central South Dakota.
More travel advisories are likely as the incoming blizzard moves east throughout the afternoon.
Check road conditions in your area before traveling today and if you do plan on traveling, keep a winter safety kit inside your vehicle.
The combination of freezing rain, accumulating snow, and strong winds is causing snow and ice-covered roads along with blizzard-like conditions throughout the state.
