SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — It’s a prestigious honor for a prestigious woman.
The South Dakota Education Association presented the Human and Civil Rights award to Taneeza Islam, Executive Director of South Dakota Voices for Peace.
Islam, a Sioux Falls immigration attorney, also ran unsuccessfully for the post of Mayor of Sioux Falls in 2022.
The award is given annually to honor an individual or organization for their work in promoting human and civil rights.
Taneeza was nominated by Jen Dreiske, Deputy Director of South Dakota Voices for Peace.
