COLMAN, S.D. (KELO.com) — Winter is creating a big mess. Gravel roads are deteriorating from the melting snow and ground thaw. South Dakota’s Association of Townships is asking drivers to consider alternate routes to preserve roads so they can dry and be properly maintained. Superintendent Scott Hemmer, of the Colman-Egan School District in Moody County, notified parents and students that beginning Monday bus routes on gravel roads will be suspended. The district will reevaluate road conditions in the coming weeks.
Those who need to travel on gravel should be prepared for changing conditions.
