SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The clock is ticking on the veto watch, but South Dakota Legislators have dodged one threatened veto.
Governor Kristi Noem signed their budget bill into law, after several veto threats.
Now there’s the question on what happens to the 4-year sales tax rate reduction approved by lawmakers.
They passed that bill instead of endorsing the Governor’s proposal to repeal the sales tax on groceries.
The legislature will meet next Monday to consider bills that were vetoed by the Governor.
Noem remains quiet on whether or not she’ll veto or sign the Legislature’s plan to lower sales taxes from 4.5% to 4.2% until 2027.
