STORM LAKE, IA (KELO.com) — Iowa police are asking for help in identifying individuals involved in cashing fake payroll checks. Storm Lake police say 10 to 15 Hispanic males presented checks and fled in multiple vehicles. From the Pocahontas Police Department, approximately 30 Hispanic males went to a bank and were able to get money for the forged checks. Authorities believe the check cashing scheme involved several other cities in northwest Iowa. Check cashing services are encouraged to be vigilant in ensuring the validity of checks.
