Long Live MC Scholarship Fundraiser takes place Saturday, December 17, from 1-4 p.m. at Gateway Lounge in Sioux Falls.
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Gateway Lounge in Sioux Falls will be hosting a fundraiser this Saturday, December 17, for a local organization trying to raise awareness to the issue of suicide and mental health for young men.
The organization, Long Live MC, was created following the 2021 passing of Roosevelt High School alum Emmanuel “Manny” Christopher.
Its goal is to bring the mental health needs of young men to the forefront of the conversation, while letting them know that it’s OK to speak to someone about their mental health needs.
Funds raised will go towards providing scholarships to 3 Dakota Wesleyan students who share the same characteristics that made Manny who he was.
Organizer Isaiah Bowar.
Audio PlayerManny graduated from Dakota Wesleyan in 2020 and was a starter on the school’s football team where he shined both on and off the field.
Funds raised will also be used to send a delegation to Manny’s hometown in Nairobi, Kenya, to help build churches and schools for the community.
Audio PlayerThe fundraiser will include a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle, and $20 will get you all-you-can-drink Busch Light.
The previous event hosted by the organization helped raise over $10,000 for the cause, a number they’re hoping to surpass tomorrow by a significant margin.
It takes place at Gateway Lounge, located at 3408 S. Gateway Boulevard, from 1-4 p.m.
