SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Due to the inclement weather conditions, the South Dakota Department of Transportation has announced the closure of I-90 from Chamberlain to Rapid City.
In addition to the Interstate closure, motorists are reminded that many No Travel Advisories are in place on state highways throughout the central and western part of the state.
Secondary highways will also become impassable during the duration of this winter storm.
So reconsider if planning on traveling west over the next couple of days as travel will be difficult, to nearly impossible, during this storm system.
If travel is necessary, check SD511.org for the latest updates on road conditions in your area.
I90 is closed east and westbound from the Chamberlain exit. We expect road conditions to continue to deteriorate as the day continues. If you can, please stay home. If you must travel, ensure you have an emergency kit in your car, give yourself lots of extra time, and slow down! https://t.co/zALisjq0h9
