PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — Is the state of South Dakota investing in Chinese companies?
Governor Kristi Noem wants the answer.
Governor Noem called for an immediate review of all investments under the control of the South Dakota Investment Council in order to determine if taxpayer dollars are being invested in companies that pose a threat to our national security, like those in Communist China.
She challenged the council to complete the review in seven days.
The governor said if the review shows that if such investments are taking place, the council should propose alternative investment options.
