PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — The City of Dell Rapids was among communities awarded economic development grants from the South Dakota Transportation Commission. The grant is for smaller communities to make infrastructure improvements and pay for 80 percent of the construction costs, up to $600,000. The Dell Rapids grant is for $450,000 for 3rd Street and Orleans Avenue, serving the business area. Other communities receiving grants include De Smet, Salem, Kimball, Parkston, and Volga. An agri-business grant was also awarded to Sverdrup Township for $216,000 for 251st Street in Minnehaha County, serving Driftwood Dairy.
