In an interview with news partner WNAX, Doug Ekeren, President of Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton says costs are outpacing revenues
Ekeren also says medical inflation is a large part of that problem.
The current medical inflation rate is at a whopping 35%, according to him.
He says they may discontinue some services and try to restructure others to increase cost effectiveness.
Most of the job cuts so far have been in administration and support but not direct medical care.
