SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture says nanotechnology is crucial in the fight against plant diseases. There are over 15 different types of plant diseases in South Dakota.
The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station is developing ways to prevent these diseases using nanotechnology. Their approach is to use plant genetic material to fight off flora illnesses.
Roughly half of south Dakota’s agriculture production comes from plant crops.
