WATERTOWN, S.D. (KELO.com) –The nursing home and an assisted living facility in Clear Lake will be closing this summer, and its residents have been told to look for another place to live.
In an email to KWAT News in Watertown, Good Samaritan Society Vice President of Operations Aimee Middleton said, “the pandemic has put unprecedented stress on the senior care industry, which has forced us to make difficult decisions about how and where we can provide care and services. As a result, the Good Samaritan Society skilled nursing and assisted living location in Clear Lake will close, effective July 15th.”
Middleton says a number of factors prompted the closing, including ongoing staffing challenges, a decline in the number of residents, increasing operating costs, and Medicaid reimbursement rates that do not keep up with the cost of care.
