SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — No humans were injured, but two pets died in a house fire Tuesday night.
The fire was in the 3100 block of South Phillips Avenue.
One cat did survive the blaze.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue says they saw smoke when they arrived and confirmed there was a fire.
They say it was contained to a bathroom but there was extensive smoke damage in the home.
Authorities are investigating the cause.

On Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at approximately 9:00 PM Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire in the 3100 block of S. Phillips Avenue. Initial reports indicated that smoke was in the house.
The first arriving crew discovered heavy smoke in the structure and confirmed a working fire. While searching the home for occupants fire crews discovered that there had been a fire in a first floor bathroom but it had extinguished itself. The fire was contained to the area of origin but the smoke damage was extensive throughout the home. One cat was found alive but two other animals perished.
No occupants were found in the home. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries reported.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with four fire trucks, three support vehicles, and 15 personnel. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The home did not have a sprinkler system. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was assisted by Metro Communications, Sioux Falls Police Department, PCEMS Ambulance, MidAmerican Energy, and Xcel Energy.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind everyone to have working smoke detectors, a Fire Escape Plan, and the importance of sleeping with bedroom doors closed.
