SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — It was a busy weekend of odd crimes in Sioux Falls.
SUSPECT DRAGS POLICE OFFICER WITH TRUCK
A Sioux Falls Police Officer avoided serious injuries after being dragged by a truck Sunday morning.
Police noticed that a truck had been running for several hours but hadn’t moved in the 600 block of South Charlotte Ave.
Two officers spotted a man in the driver’s seat who appeared passed out.
They roused him but he awoke and started fighting the officer.
As the officers were trying to get him out of the truck, he retrieved his keys and sped off with one officer half out of the vehicle.
The officer fell and hit his head and had road rash.
Later, police arrested Joshua Michael Hamilton, 33, from Sioux Falls, on drug, assault, and other charges.
EVEN AT CHURCH, YOUR VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE–IF UNLOCKED
A burglar is now starting his penance for opening up people’s cars while they are at church and then burglarizing their homes.
Sioux Falls Police arrested Dean Eric Moss Sunday after he took an unlocked car, found the registration that said where the owner lived, then used the garage door opener to break into the car owner’s house.
Police think this is at least the second time Moss, 39, from Sioux Falls had pulled the trick while people were at church.
A family member who wasn’t at church came home and scared Moss off.
Moss faces a number of burglary and theft charges.
He’s also a parole absconder.
SHOOT IN THE DIRT, GO TO JAIL
A Sioux Falls man is behind bars after firing a gun into the ground Sunday afternoon to scare his wife.
Police say the man was having an argument with his wife.
He grabbed a gun out of his vehicle and then fired a round into the dirt.
The suspect is charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm and aggravated assault domestic.
The incident took place in the 300 block of South Sycamore Ave.
