ABERDEEN, S.D. (KELO.com) — An Aberdeen man is on his way to federal custody after being sentenced on child pornography charges.
Charles Chambers, 35, was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The incident stems from Feb. 23, 2021 when Chambers accessed hundreds of digital files of child pornography via his KIK Messenger account.

United States Attorney Dennis R. Holmes announced that an Aberdeen, South Dakota, man convicted of Possession of Child Pornography was sentenced on February 15, 2022, by U.S. District Judge Charles B. Kornmann. Charles Chambers, age 35, was sentenced to 240 months in federal prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release, $5,000 fine, and a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund in the amount of $100. Chambers was indicted by a federal grand jury on April 6, 2021. He pled guilty on November 1, 2021.
The conviction stemmed from an incident on February 23, 2021, when Chambers accessed hundreds of digital files containing child pornography into his KIK Messenger account. Chambers used his cellular phone and the internet to access the files in interstate commerce.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Aberdeen Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey C. Clapper prosecuted the case.
Chambers was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
