PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — The Senate State Affairs Committee heard over an hour of testimony pro and con on a resolution calling for a convention of the states to amend the US Constitution.
The committee eventual killed the measure.
The sponsor, Senator Blake Curd of Sioux Falls, a Convention of States is a way for legislators to listen to voters and send a message to Congress.
Senator Mike Rohl of Aberdeen wanted to send it to the Senate floor.
Senator Lee Schoenbeck of Watertown thought the resolution was not specific enough and moved to send the resolution to the forty-first day.
His motion was approved on a five to four vote, effectively killing the resolution.
