SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Here are the highlights from Wednesday’s Sioux Falls Police briefing.
ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER SCAM
Sioux Falls Police are investigating two scams that defrauded two men in their 60s out of $500 each.
They separately received calls from someone who purported to be from Xcel Energy that they had unpaid utility bills.
The caller was not from Xcel and the victims were in good standing.
The victims did what the caller said and sent $500 each via a MoneyPack to the scammer.
Then the scammer asked for more money, triggering the victims to contact the police.
BAD EX-BOYFRIEND GOES DIRECTLY TO JAIL
An ex-boyfriend is in jail on a number of charges after kidnapping, assaulting, and robbing his ex-girlfriend.
The incident took place Tuesday morning near Madison and Kiwanis.
Sioux Falls Police say the woman was walking down the street and her ex-boyfriend offered her a ride.
She accepted.
He then said he was going to beat her and take her to the middle of nowhere.
Once the car stopped, the woman got out and is ok.
Charged is Jason L. McBurnie, 35, from Sioux Falls.
