SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — This week, the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office said it had filed a simple assault charge against former Sioux Falls Police officer Joseph Larson.
Sioux Falls Police Chief Jon Thum admits that sometimes people they employ make decisions outside the department’s control.
However, he says the SFPD responded to the accusation as he believes the community expects.
Thum says Larson did not work another shift after the incident.
Thum did not take questions at Friday’s police briefing and said this was the only statement the department would make on the matter.
