SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A new study says South Dakota saw the third-highest percentage increase in the cost of living between 2010 and 2020.
The Filterbuy.com study says the cost of living went up nearly 20% during that time in the state.
Nationally, the cost of living went up just over 16% during the same period.
However, South Dakota’s cost of living is still nearly 9% lower than the average national cost of living.
The analysis found that residents of South Dakota experienced an increase of 19.8% in the cost of living between 2010 and 2020. Out of all states, South Dakota saw the 3rd largest increase in the cost of living over the last decade. Here is a summary of the data for South Dakota:
