MARION COUNTY, IA (KELO.com) — An Iowa hunter was fatally wounded during a deer drive Saturday afternoon in Marion County, southeast of Des Moines.
Iowa DNR conservation officers said in a release it is believed Nathan Allen Sharpnack, of Winterset, Iowa, was hit in the torso by a round fired from a member of a large hunting party he was participating in the deer drive with. The investigation into is ongoing.
The Iowa DNR reminds hunters to treat every firearm as if it’s loaded, point the muzzle in a safe direction, and don’t touch the trigger until you’re ready to shoot.
