SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A Sioux Falls doctor has announced she is running for city council.
Sarah Cole, a pediatric gastroenterologist, announced her candidacy Thursday.
Cole is running for the at-large seat currently held by Councilor Janet Brekke. Brekke hasn’t yet said whether she will run for re-election.
Cole has lived in Sioux Falls since 2012; she grew up in Moorhead, Minnesota. She highlighted her experience as a working mother of two in her campaign announcement.
“I would be honored to serve on the Sioux Falls City Council as a strong advocate for the people that call this great community home,” Cole wrote in the announcement. “I’m a working mom and I want to fight for the future of Sioux Falls because it’s where I’m raising my family, and I hope it’s where they choose to stay when they’re adults. There is so much the council can accomplish in our great city for working families, and I want to be part of those solutions.”
Bobbi Andera, a Laboratory Business Manager at Sanford Health who serves on the city’s Public Parking Advisory Board, has also filed paperwork to run for Brekke’s seat.
