SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Crime did not decide to take a break Tuesday in Sioux Falls.
Here are some of the lowlights from Tuesday’s Sioux Falls Police briefing.
MAN SETS FIRE BY CITY HALL
A Sioux Falls man is in jail after attempting to set a fire outside the west entrance of city hall Monday afternoon.
Sioux Falls Police said the fire was smoldering in the landscaping.
Police arrested Tyler Ray Mason, 36.
Authorities say he had been in city hall earlier in the day causing a disturbance.
He’s charged with reckless burning, meth possession, and paraphernalia.
CATALYTIC CONVERTER THEFTS NEVER WENT AWAY
Sioux Falls Police say that while catalytic converter thefts haven’t been in the news as much as earlier this year, the thefts have never gone away.
Officer Sam Clemens says the department still gets a handful each week or over the weekend.
He says there was a theft just Monday of a converter.
CLERK STOPS FAKE $100 BILL
An alert clerk at a Sioux Falls casino stopped someone from passing a fake bill yesterday (Monday).
A customer tried to pass a fake $100 bill.
The clerk spotted it and the suspect left the business.
Police have not made an arrest.
