YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) — Sen. John Thune of South Dakota says he will decide soon on running for another term next year.
He said he is not in a rush to announce.
“There’s not a terrible sense of urgency, but at the same time I understand that I’ve got to make some decisions so that other people can make decisions,” Thune said. “I wouldn’t say it’s imminent, but it’s coming.”
Thune said he will decide by the end of this year.
Thune was first elected to the Senate in 2004 when he defeated incumbent Democratic Senator Tom Daschle. He was then reelected in 2010 and 2016.
