SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KWSN.com) โ Augustana University broke ground on a new hockey arena in Sioux Falls Tuesday.
The arena will host the Vikingsโ planned Division I program, slated to start play in 2023. The arena will cost $40 million to build and seat about 3,000.
Billionaire T. Denny Sanford was among the attendees; he donated money to the project. Midco purchased naming rights to the building, which will be known as Midco Arena.
Augie will be the first Division I hockey program in South Dakota. The university says it plans to have a coach in place by May 2022.
