SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) – A South Dakota hunting lodge is getting national attention for its services for disabled veterans. Wings of Valor Lodge, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, operates the lodge, located near Parker, SD.
Scott Redd, Vice President of Wings of Valor Lodge, says the idea came from a disabled veteran who had attended a veterans’ hunt at the lodge and heard someone remark that it had been the greatest day ever. The veteran asked the lodge’s owner, Bruce Weller, what if they could make every day the greatest day ever.
The lodge is completely accessible for disabled veterans with state-of-the-art facilities that allow veterans to be completely independent.
The facility, which is 100% volunteer-driven, has gained the attention and support of actor Gary Sinise, Wayne Kyle (father of “American Sniper” Chris Kyle), and other national veterans organizations.
Redd says the lodge is always looking for volunteers to help with the hunts. The lodge is also able to host corporate and private events which help support the services for veterans.
