SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls immigration attorney Taneeza Islam says she is running for Mayor of Sioux Falls.
Last month, Mayor Paul TenHaken said he was running for re-election to a second term.
Following the 2018 city election, David Zokaites said he would run against TenHaken.
Islam says she would be the first, first-generation Muslim-American to run for citywide office in Sioux Falls.
Islam is the founder of South Dakota Voices for Peace, an advocacy group for immigrant, refugee and Muslim communities.
