SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — 125 members of the 1742nd Transportation Company of Sioux Falls and Flandreau had their activation ceremony today as they head to secure the southern border. Senator John Thune took part and posted on Twitter “It’s humbling to see so many brave South Dakotans answering the call to duty, & I’m proud to be from a state with a deep respect for military service”.
Representative Dusty Johnson also attended posting “thank you to these heroes”. He added August was the second straight month with over 200,000 apprehensions at the border.
The deployment was requested by the federal government.
