SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — You may not realize it, but South Dakota doesn’t have just one pheasant season for its state bird, but several seasons.
Saturday through Sunday are the last days of the youth season for hunters 12 to 17 and their mentor hunters.
On October 9th through 11th is the South Dakota resident-only season.
Then on October 16th through January 31st is the traditional season.
That’s when out of staters, and everyone in the state can hunt the wily Chinese ringneck pheasant in the Mount Rushmore State.
